Blog Content

A blog is an online journal where a content writer also known as a blogger writes content specifically specializing in a niche.

A blog gives the opportunity for comments and discussion consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries. Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order, so that the most recent post appears first, at the top of the web page.

It is a fact that B2B digital marketers who use blogs receive 67% more leads than those who do not. Blogs have also been rated the 5th most trustworthy source for accurate online information especially if they are formatted in a way to be an online news site specifically designed to reach a target audience.

There is a difference between a personal blog jotting down a diary of entries to a website that specialised in a particular niche.

What is a blog?

The term ‘Blog’ first, came about in 1994 when a Swarthmore College student Justin Hall created the very first blog and had a domain name Links.net. At the time, however, it was basically a personal homepage.

In 1997, another blogger Jorn Barger wrote for Robot Wisdom, coined the term “weblog”, which was an interpretation to describe a process for “logging the web” as he surfed the internet. This, in turn, created the term “weblog” which was shortened to “blog” in 1999, by a programmer named Peter Merholz.

In the early years, a blog was simply a personal weblog or journal in which someone could write and share information about their opinions on a variety of subjects. The information was posted in real-time in reverse chronologically, so the most recent post would appear first, this has not changed and continues to be part of the structure of an article-based website.

Blogs can consist of travel, fashion, hair & beauty, DIY, cooking tutorials, or a specialized niche.

Blogs can also be online business journals announcing the news, finances, economics, politics, and health.

Some famous blogs are the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, and Huffington Post to name a few.
